This question is best suited for your insurance agent.
Many insurance companies DO cover other drivers. Mine does (Progressive Drive Time) my old carrier did as well (Allied). I verified this when a friend and I went on a long trip a few years ago. |

I'm only a kid, but I know from experience that if they get into a wreck, your insurance won't pay for it. |

I have a friend who went through this. He let his brother drive his car and he sideswiped a parked vehicle. Damage was described as moderate like 28 hundred dollars worth.
Because his brother wasn't covered in the policy my friend had to pay out of his own pocket. The only way around it would have been to say his brother used the car without his knowledge, in other words he stole it. |

Insurance goes with vehicles, not with drivers. If you let someone drive, YOU are responsible for everything and anything they do. If they cause a wreck, their fault, your insurance pays but you have to come up with the deductible out of pocket. They do something to get your car towed, you are responsible for the tow bill. |

It depends on your insurance company..Insurance in Texas follows the car. If your friend is driving with permission you vehicle is covered as well as your policy will pay for the damage caused to the other car granted that you Carry collision coverage. Your friend has what is called permissive use, unless you have banned her from driving and she has no assumption that she can drive...the assumption is on her to assume.. Call your insurance company..some are more cheap skates than others but IT IS COVERED as long as she has permission to use the car by you..This also will depend on state and insurance company so check first before you continue to allow your friend to drive. |

You losing your car because they crashed it and totalled it. Don't let anyone do that. As a matter of fact..unless it's your parents. I would not let ANYONE drive it unless you had to get to the hospital and couldn't drive. It could be a lawsuit waiting to happen. |

well I know for sure that the belame will go on you for letting them take the car first but suppose they get pull over by the cops they will get an ticket because they don't have any documention second if they get into an accident than that will be bad because you insurrance will first see if the car not total they can try and fix it but if it total than they won't do nothing and remember this if your insurrance if your car by any how. your insurance monthly payment will go up. so you better know if the person whom you are letting them your cars have insurrance, driving license and all documention and all be able to pay for any demage if something happens because when i was 17 i drove my mom car to help her with morning activity like dropping of my little brother to school and good to my school also but one day i got into and accident with my two brother inside. no body was hurt but except the demage of the car. the hood, the head light, the bumper, the grille, i mean all the front end. so i got a ticket when the police arrived because and so did the other female drive. the accident wasn't my fault but my reason for my ticket that i was under age and i was not able to drive with kids under the age of 18. so i explain the whole accident problem to my parents and they call up the ir insurrance but they came and check and they refuse to fix her car because i wasn't included in the policy so lucky my mom call the other female driver insurrance and they also said No but my mom said that she will sued them and that made them scared and a week later they came again and wrote us a check of $3000 that was in 2003 so i don't know about know but all i can say the you will pay the consequences for letting some one drive your car. so don't do it. be smart. |

None if there are no 'accidents' while they are driving. If pulled over by the police and asked to show insurance for any reason, you could be ticketed because they aren't legally carrying any. If they get into an 'accident', then they are liable for any damages, not you. You, however, will have to deal with your insurance company. So your rates may go up or you could be dropped. |

Insurance wont cover the damages if they get into a wreck. |

You are personally liable. Your insurance will refuse to cover anything at all since you violated the contract by letting someone drive the car who is not named on the policy.
So the person wrecks your car (say, ten grand), totals the other car (say, twenty grand) and the other person is seriously injured (say, one hundred grand in medical bills). That's $130,000 that YOU, personally, are liable for. No insurance to step in and handle things.
You sure you want to lose everything you have? |

You can be held accountable for all costs if your uninsured friend has an accident, and your insurance will not cover a single penny of it.....it'll all rest squarely on your shoulders. |
