My insurance is in my name and my partner is a named driver.The car is registered to me,i want to put the car in her name,but will i have to have her as main policy holder for insurance.
we live together,but not married.

Anyone at all can purchase the tax for it.
If it is done online then there is only checks that the car is insured/registered and mot'd
If done at post office then as long as the person has the documents then anyone can go along and buy the tax.
Anyone can be named as the Registered Keeper. They do not have to be the owner of the vehicle. |

Provided the car is insured and MOT'd (if necessary) and they have the documents in their possession, anybody can tax any car irrespective of who it's registered to. |

It really doesnt matter
If you drive the car the most, your the main policy holder, if its her then shes the main policy holder
If its 50/50 might be best to have a policy each
And if yous both live at the same place, it really doesnt matter who the car is registered to, has nothing to do with insurance |

Whoever the main driver (uses it most) will have to be the policy holder.
Anyone can tax the vehicle regardless who the keeper BUT if for tax refunds, it has to be the registered/previous keeper on record - new rules that were brought out Jan 2009 and the fact I deal with this on a daily basis. |

Whoever has their name on the registration document is the registered keeper - not necessarily the owner. The car can be in your partner's name and insured by you as the policy holder |
