None at all, and there never were. It was just that in the old days of paper records it took so long for the DVLA (or, more accurately, the County Council who dealt with it then) to do all the forms necessary to prosecute that they tended not to bother unless it was a fortnight out of date. Now there's no delay. That's why they send you the renewal stuff in good time.

You don't get any days grace.
If you drive it and get caught then the police will report you to the DVLA. They don't book you /fine you them selves only report you.

You won't get done if its parked up but it will have to be Taxed or declared Sorn before the end of the month.

As tax is back dated to the beginning of the month your not going to get away with it only postpone paying up for a while.

You get two weeks in which to declare SORN (Statutory Off-Road Notice) or renew the tax before the DVLA automatically issues a fine.

However, you cannot use the car on the road (or even have it parked on the road) without a valid tax disc - so the two weeks "grace" only applies if the car is kept off the road and not used for those two weeks.

There is no such thing as days of grace. Unless your car was re taxed on 1st December, Your insurance is invalid as you are not covered by the road traffic Acts.

You are now ILLEGAL! You cannot tax at post office after 14 days( this is not a right, just a concession to prevent everybody queuing on the same day). You will have to apply to DVLA Swansea or local office or on-line and there is possibility of penalty for late renewal.
