it was left outside my firneds house and i have liability, but i dont have a receipt for the rims, i got them fro,m the swap meet but i know there real..since i had insurance, i should get them right

#1 You would have to have comprehensive coverage.
#2 If the rims were added after-market- you would have had to add them as "special equipment" and paid a premium for them.
Liablility only covers the other party for injury and damages if you hit them and it is your fault. That is why it is the coverage REQUIRED by the state. |

Theft would be covered under comprehensive in addition to that most companies require that you schedule or list high valued add on items in order to have coverage for them. If you only have liability, you are out of luck. If you have full coverage, check your policy to see if specific items must be listed in advance. |

If you have liability only, that only pays for the other person's car, in the event of an accident that you cause. Liability is for when you cause an accident, and it doesn't cover anything else. That's why it's cheaper. |

They would have to be declared as a modification to the vehicle for the insurance company to take account of them (this would up the value/risk and therefor mean the premium went up).

if your an idiot yeah.it amazes me how people will spend more money on a depreciating asset[their car]than they do on where they live.makes sense to me,i think i'll live in the hood instead of a nice part of town and spend all my money on some rims,that are more likely to get stolen,IN THE HOOD. |

well if you only had liability insurance it wont be covered, and to be perfectly honest, why would you have rims on your car that are worth 6x the car |

NO! You need to contact your agent and take out a separate policy for modifications made to the vehicle, and it won't be cheap. |

If you have comprehensive coverage, you may get paid. Depends on the details of your policy - read it, or ask your agent or insurance company's claims hotline.
