Basically the driver has provisional licence and is insured, if he drives with me in the car does my insurance and his cover us.

YES, simple as that. Because he is insured and you have a full licence and are sitting by him you are well within the law. Don't worry about your insurance because his covers you both. |

Ok so the provisional licence holder will be driving his car which is insured in his name. All he needs is L plates and someone to supervise him (you). As long as you are over 21 and have held your licence for at least three years, everything is legal, however, only he is insured to drive the car so you cannot drive it.
So basically it's the learner driver that needs to be insured, not the person supervising.
If the learner was to drive your car, he would need to be added to your insurance policy, as his insurance will only cover him to drive his car. |
