Yes..adding an additional driver to an insurance policy will increase the premium payment on that policy. Remember, the car isn't insured...its the driver who is insured.
So yes, if your mom adds you to her policy, she will need to pay more for the additional person who is covered. It has nothing to do with getting a permit, but new, younger drivers are considered a higher risk than older adults. Chances are, your mom will pay more to cover you than she does to cover herself.

Their rates will go up A LOT, especially since your male. Maybe you could suggest taking drivers ed, it will help to lower the insurance rates. |

it will be very expensive to insure you. farmers is also one of the more expensive carriers out there. i don't believe they'll need to insure you until you get a license and you actually drive the vehicle.
it's actually in both your interests to at lease get your driver's license and not drive, thus no need to insure you. in the long-run, it will help your future insurance rates because you will be charged based on # of years you've been "driving", so when you got your license. |

No, in fact, you dont even put a claim into your insurance company until you get your license... but when you do, yes, it will alot because of these.... your a male, and you will be between 16 and 21... insurance company's dont drop the high price on guy drivers till around 21-23 |
