Yes, they can learn to drive.
However, after passing their test they will be subject to the new driver act which stipulates if they accrue 6 points within the first two years of passing their test, they will then return to learner status and have to resit both theory and practical tests. |

you would already know the answer to this if you were a driving instructor ! |

If your a driving instructor than you should ask the company you work for or check in your rules and regulations it should state in there if you can or not. If its for speeding or minor convictions then i dont see why not. |

It's legal if they're not banned. You need to decide whether you want to sit in a car with someone who has managed to accrue 8 penalty points before passing their test. If you're into remedial training, put your fees up! |

He sounds like he really needs lessons! If you're ok taking him out to drive, then it's fine - 12 points leads to disqualification (I think). |

Check out your insurance policy first. |

Who would need them more than that person? Give emphasis on safety and obeying traffic laws along with the mechanics of driving. |

A provisional does NOT have points (normally), BUT, a 'ghost' * licence will have been created to put the points on. The way the law would work is:
He CANNOT be banned as he hold no licence.
BUT, if he passes his test before the points are removed from the 'ghost' then he'd be up for an instant ban & licence revocation due to the points. (As only 6 points allowed for new drivers).
*Ghost licences are created for people who do not hold a valid UK licence in order to issue points - whether non-uk residents or driving without a licence.
It's OK tho give lessons - but would advise NOT going for the test until after they are cleared. |

i dont think he can, i have six on mine and was told that if i get one more point then i will be banned, he needs to phone the dvla to check, i wouldnt take him out before then! i phoned them 9 times just to check i could still do lessons because i thought it was too good to be true, they said one more point in the 2 years after i pass, and i would have to start again, and would be banned!
dpont listen to the people who say 12 points and its a ban, because thats for drivers who have held theirs for 2 or more years, provisional drivers only have 6 points for the first 2 years, not 12 |

I thought 6 points meant disqualification on a provisional license and within your first 2 years of a full license. |

I know the law is 6 points in the first 2 years of passing you ahve to re-sit your test. But unsure of 8 points on provisional - best to ring DVLA or DSA |
