If you have been convicted of DWI, how does your insurance company find out if you don't claim the accident?

If you have a clean driving record for 20 years, and have been with the current insurance company over 2, do insurance companies do random checks on you, or does the ministry inform them that you have no licence for a year, or do they not know unles you tell them?

its repoerted to dmv ins company checks youre record everytime you renew . there no way out of this one

Your insurance company does checks, especially when it's time for renewal. Also , notification could be sent to your company by DMV.

HI Cathy...all the answers I see could be correct! No one can answer your question unless they know which state you are licensed and insured though because all states handle it similarly but none exactly the same. Most insurance companies, subscribe to a service which receives these reports from the courts and/or DMV, and they sell the information to the insurance companies in Excel format where the insurer can search for it's clients therein. And most insurance companies have you sign a release allowing any type of investigation into your records, including credit reports, and most people never read what they sign to know this. If you want to know for sure, you can do two things, one, call your insurance agent or company and simply ask them how this is handled. They will tell you and its the law that they have to reveal this. Or you can call your DMV in your state and ask them how this works, and they will tell you without reservation. Good luck...

You will be required to have SR22 insurance to be able to get your license back. Also, the state will report this, so every time you renew, new violations show up. Unless you just don't want to drive for a long time, you will have to fess up to the insurance company.

If you have been convicted of anything, it becomes a matter of public record. If it is a conviction of something affecting your driving record, it gets added to that data base. That would include any tickets over just parking tickets. The insurance companies check the data base frequently, and always before they renew your policy. Sorry Cathy, if they don't know now, they soon will.
