If you misplace your license are you supposed to get a new license number?

My roommate recently misplaced/lost her license and I was eavesdropping on a few phone calls about getting a new number for her license. Is it true that someone can use your license number?

Anyone can pretend they are a person on a DL but when they get arrested for false identity they will be in BIG trouble. I suppose you could call the DMV and request a new number becuase of Identy theft.

NO the DMV will issue you a replacement with the same license number
