There are lots of websites where you can get a free insurance quote. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html It only takes 5 minutes to do. |

Pickups are classed as commercial vehicles and insurance for a driver under 21 are pretty hard to get in the UK.
Premiums are likely to be around the £1500 - £2000 mark. |

I have 3 cars, one of which is a new shape L200.
Its a pile of rubbish. I've lost count of the panels i've split by chainsaws moving around in the back. The slightest tap from a saw, pickaxe or strimmer and bang - another £250 for a big bit of plastic
Anyway, i know you say you don't care about the cost of insurance but you will care when you see the bill.
Get a small car and a trailer. Get a lockable galv top made for it. |

car-insurance.22web.net - check this one. As I remember they have lowest car insurance rates for teens and young drivers. |

Sorry mate, I think they're all talking rubbish. You should have no bother insuring a pick up - try Quinn Direct or confused.com.
It may be better to visit a high street insurance broker as many companies struggle to grasp the concept of insuring a commercial for private use or for young drivers.
It's going to be dearer than a Fiesta or some other little box, but as you say, it'll earn you a living. |

Hi personally speaking most insurance companys will laugh at you because they wont be prepared to insure in a vehicle such as that especially when you 1st pass your test & then try to insure a vehicle as big as that without any driving expirience also i noticed that your talking about moving diggers! if your putting them on a trailer & towing them you want to check what your covered for towing especially on a new licence ... hope this helps |

You don't need a pick up truck you need something with a decent load space i.e a van, much easier to load/ unload usually have a larger gvw mines 3.5t
who gave me a thumbs down, a van is much more practical you don't have to lift heavy equipment above your chest, most pick ups don't have a box so your tools are exposed to the elements and any theives that feel like helping themselves |

statefarm is my insurance company. i'm 18 years old and they gave me the best deal of all the agencies that i called. they also have a program for teens that if you complete the booklet, it takes a nice sum off of your monthy payment. i like statefarm :)
i pay less for full coverage than a lot of ppl i know that only have minimum coverage
it's also very easy. i got stuck in a ditch. called a tow truck, showed them my statefarm card, and the towing company billed statefarm directly. i didn't pay a dime and i didn't even have to deal with anything confusing. they took care of it all :)
ALSO...i have a seriously old piece of sh*t chevy astro van and everyone said i'd be paying A LOT....but they are VERY reasonable! :) |

you wont be able to afford insurance unless company will pay it for you |

I hear what you say about your need but the Mitsubishi L200 (a very good tool) will cost a small fortune for a 17 year old new driver to insure. You would do better to phone around a few insurance companies, but be warned, you are going to get a nasty shock! |

Hi mate, dont listen to half the people on here who havnt even had a pickup at 17. I was 17 last november and passed in december, got an X-reg L200 2.5 litre turbo diesel and insurance was £1600 fully comp, main driver and breakdown cover. I have the cheapest insurance of ALL my friends who pay about the same and are only secondary drivers on third party!
Its much better to ring them up directly for a better quote - I am with the NFU.
Its a great car BUT make sure you find a decent L200 and check it out thoroughly otherwise insurance will be the least of your worries compared to repair bills. |
