I am 16 and just got my license today! Do I need to add my self to my parents cars if they are both already insured? Please help my parents wont let me drive alone till I get this insurance situation figured out!

your parents need to call their insurance company to add you on as a driver. if you get into an accident with their vehicle, it WILL be covered even though you are not added (because you are a household resident relative and a dependent). it's better to be added though, because it could complicate the claim. (it would not be denied, just a drawn out) |

You should because if you have an accident with either car, their insurance may not cover the damages. It will cost a few dollars but it really could be worth it in the long run. If you are only going to drive one of the cars, than just get it on one and not the other. |

You should really talk to your agent. I find it hard to believe the insurance will pay for damage done by someone not authorized to drive the vehicle. With the cost of insurance, it may be better to just let you drive one car. (with you listed on the policy). There is a lot of junk on the internet. |

While you had your permit, it was fine not to have you on their policy. Now that your fully licensed, they need to add you as an additional driver. |
