You mean details as in that they have your Drivers Licence, if so they can certainly use them to get other documentation and to open bank accounts after they do a change of address!

So you best do what your meant to do in these situations, report it to the police and to the DVLA.

Please clarify what you mean by details.

It`s possible to make a fake one and use it for proof of identity to get credit. But to honest the details on it; name, address, dob, are available on lots of records so this can happen to anyone.

Edit: whoever is thumbing down - you underestimate the professionalism of the identity fraudster! Believe me, i work with this (the victims, not as a fraudster) every day at work, and you wouldn`t believe how easy it is for them!

If they have the details then the only thing they could do would be to claim a lost licence and get a replacement sent to another address. Then they could use it to try and get credit in your name, but not your address. They'd have to look like your photo though

Dear People, I applied provisional Driving licence(Uk) in 2004 and to my surprise i received full Uk driving licence after 3-4 weeks. I consulted couple of mates and i was told that it was luck so keep it. Since then i kept the licence along with counter part with 6 point. When i received counter part in 2004 it showed 6 penalty points CU80. Now i received a another letter from dvla month ago that i must send my licence back for another court conviction.I did not send the licence and week ago i received another letter from dvla that my D Licence has been revoked.I foned the dvla and explain that i never had any driving convictions and they said if i never had any points or court convictions then i must call to court and appeal against it. Can you suggest me what to do in this satiation as i am due to apply for Indefinite stay(UK) in 4 months and I heard that HO might reject me due to these convictions. How can i prove to the court that its not me. Thanks

My son was stopped by police whilst in his van and stated that his driving licence had been revoked since January 2011. He stated categorically that he had never been stopped and had no points on his licence. Police stated that he had and took his van at 2am. He was working and his licence is his liveihood. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you deal with it as he has worked really hard, bought his van, got his licence and insured the van and has made sure that he did not abuse his licence as its equired for his business. On contacting DVLA, they have only given him the court details and said that as he did not to answer the charges was convicted in his absence, but he said that he received no such letter, had not been stopped at all so was not aware. Where does he go from here. Can anyone help?
