Insurers usually supply a Cover Note within 24-hours of setting-up a policy and this can be used until the certificate is received. I think you should give your insurers a ring to clarify whether or not it's legal for you to go onto the road with neither a certificate or cover note. (As long as they can give you a policy number, I would think it would be fine). If they say it's OK, ask the name of the person you're speaking to and make a note of it, along with the time and date of the call - 'just in case'! |

yes! you are insured i recently rang to alter my policy and it started as soon as the lady on the phone put it thru the system, i received the certificate 5 days later with the details from the time i rang the company!! |

as long as you have paid, and the company have received your payment, then you r covered, if they havent received your payment, then u r not covered. |

yea they normally only send a cover letter to say this u use to tax your car etc untill tyhe certificate comes through! if u get pulled over also use this, they normally know if u got insuarnce or not though when they do a pnc check on your car number plate they also tell if it is mot'd etc. as long as you have the cover note u r covered!!!! |

You should have a cover note, a small piece of paper that states you have paid and in order in case you are stopped by the police or if you have an accident, you must have PROOF, if you have not then go to your broker and ask for it. |
