In the first year how many penalty points mean a ban?

A twenty seven year old passed the driving test 8 months ago - how many points would mean an automatic driving ban... and would it also be a re-test ??

6 or more in 2 years and its a re-test...12 or more and its a 12 months ban.

It's 6points for first 2years then it goes up to 12points

If you get 6 points on your licence within the first TWO years after passing your test, you will need to retake the driving test before you can drive again.
Whether you also get a longer ban depends on what the offence was.
Best to just avoid getting ANY points, really. After all, a 27-year-old isn't exactly what may be classed as a boy racer, surely?
