Information on renting out a classic car?

I have a classic car and was wondering how i go about renting it out for weddings etc.

any ideas?

Assuming you will be the driver - you will need insurance which allows you to use it for hire purposes (bit like a taxi).
If you are renting as self-drive then you would need an insurance policy which allowed anyone to drive it - very very very expensive.

Just advertise it locally in the press or in shop windows.
I hesitate to ask what car it is....

There are also companies that will keep your info on file & rent out to TV & film companies - this can be pretty lucrative for the right vehicles.

Yes, you need to add 'for hire or reward' to your insurance - contact your insurer for a price.

Hiring out puts you in the commercial vehicle category, and premiums will be considerably higher. If you alone will drive it, that will help. (Don't rent it out without a driver!) Better get a quote from your company, which should be able to write the coverage for you; then you'll have a better idea of what you'll need to charge..

It might be worth finding out if you need Public liability cover too. We had to add this to our crewcab recovery truck because we would be carrying 'third party' passengers in the cab of the truck. Basically if we had an accident while carrying passengers for any business purpose then they could sue us seperately to the cover provided by our normal trade insurance & with basic whiplash claims starting at Â£3k anything more serious could get very expensive! By carrying people in the back of your car on a hire or reward basis you may need the same.

You could advertise in your local paper. It probably wouldn't take much before word of mouth advertising takes place. Iknow several places that rent classic cars for around $250 a day, so not a bad way to make money.
