i got my car taken by bailiffs

can i just write DVLA a letter saying

"i am no longer the registered keeper of this vehicle" and do i need to give them any further details?

what other details do i need to give on the letter......reg number? my driving licence number?

should this be acceptable?

should they just take my name off immediately or would they check and try to charge me fine for tax as it was due to be taxed but then got taken?

help please what to write????

Just fill in the 'New Keeper' section on the car's registration certificate (if you have it) with the details of the company who now have the vehicle and send it to the DVLA.

If the bailifs took the log book as well,a form obtainable from a post office will do the trick,(if you can find a post office now )if not you can do it on line.

Must include your name, address and, of course, reg number.

Keep a copy!!!

You should get a response from DVLA within 4 weeks, if you don't then it's up to you to chase them up as you might still be liable
