Ins. won't pay for my totaled car but they sold it!

I was hit by another driver and my car was totalled. The other driver was at fault and her insurance has accepted liability for the accident. But it has been eight months and they haven't paid me for the car and I found out that they sold it to a salvage yard. The title is in my name and I have it. Is this legal?? It seems like it would be illegal but what can I do about it?
