It seems like you are trying to get a cheaper premium. Well, it all depends the insurance company. Some insurance companys require separate policies for each non-married person in a household. you Have to check with company to find out their exact procedures. |

Its the car thats usually insured, and one or named drivers, he would have to take out another policy in his name with you as a named driver for that car, not many insurance companies will insure two cars on one insurance, unless its a motor traders insurance, or a special deal taken out with a broker. |

It depends on the car insurance provider of your dad. If possible make an arrangement with them if it is your plan. You can try also to read some insurance policies regarding this matter, try to visit cheap car insurance site like this http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com for your reference and source of information. |

No, but he can be added to your insurance on your car at that sometimes brings the price down a little, I do that with my mum, she never drives my car but its about £100 cheaper. |

Not generally speaking as your dad isn't the registered owner of your vehicle. That said, some insurers these days have multi-car policies (such as Admiral) who will insure all the cars in the household under one policy.
Your dad will have to check whether the provider he's with will do this and if so, get a quote. Alternatively, you can contact Admiral yourself and get a combined quote for both/all the cars in your household to see what it's going to work out at. |

this depends on his policy, he will have to talk to agency himself. as they decide how they are set up. |

if you mean to drive your own car then no. Your car has to be insured (its an insurable interest) If he names on his insurance as a second driver - the chances are you would only be covered third party fire and theft. You really need to get your own car insured in your own name. If youre young then tpft is probably the cheaper option. If youre over 25 comprehensive is not too costly - depends on make model and age of your car really. |

No. Your father has no insurable interest in your car so can't insure it.
If you arrange for your father to insure the car in an attempt to keep the premium down (technically called 'fronting')
1) Both of you are committing a criminal offence.
2) When you have an accident the insurance company will ask your father to pay for the full costs they make to the other driver - so good bye house! |
