No,you technically did the right thing, mitigated your damage(s), and found a replacement vehicle. By the way, THIS you are required to do by law. They don't owe you anything else other than payment for your damages to your car.

As for the t/l process....you would think it was a piece of cake wouldn't you? You think your insurance company is dragging their feet? Ya, that's what their doing. State law has nothing to do with it, DMV regs have nothing to do with it. Phone calls, mail, the 100 other claims they have to deal with have nothing to do with it. You'll get your money when state law has been satisified--all it takes is the DMV rejecting the title work on your car and there's a HUGE delay right there.

No, you can't be paid for a rental for the time you didn't need one. And I doubt very much they said, in written form, get and keep a rental until we send you a check.

If you have two cars and wreck one, they won't even give you a rental, you will be expected to use your second car. If you buy a car, new or used, you don't need a rental any longer, same deal.

yes you might be able to get addtl loss of use from the insurance company; it wont be the same amount they paid per day to the rental company; most companies will allow say $10 to $15 per day if a person uses another car in lieu of renting; it saves the company money and the other person gets the benefit; you cant argue that you should be paid the same as the rental, since the rental company has overhead and expenses;

also; they may only allow a certain amount of days, stating that if you had signed something on the 1st, but signed it on the 5th, they may not include that time;
