There is NOTHING that says you have to fix the car.. You can use the money for what ever you need it for..
You can even buy a new car with the money..
Even if you finance the car they will send the check to you and it is up to you to send the money to the finance company since you are still on the hook for the loan

If you need the money for bills, a lot of people use insurance money for pay for what they need now if they can still drive the car as is. And they put off getting the car fixed until they can afford to do so.

they are replaceing your loss/if the car is financed you have to fix it/also if it is leased/ usually they send the checks to the other people if it is one of those.but its your loss they take care of
