Is Uhaul responsible for the damage to my car?

Two weeks ago I went to a local Uhaul lot and rented one of their uhaul trucks. After signing all the paperwork and before taking off in the truck, I was asked by one of the sales associates to move my car to the back of the building. This seemed to be the standard process. So, I did as told and parked my car around back of the building. I then went on my way in the uhaul truck. When I returned about 3 hrs later, I was informed that my car had been hit. No one seemed to know who hit my car. No witnesses.The paint on my car was white; same color as the Uhaul truck.I'm not insinuating, but seems logical.Long story short, Uhaul is saying they are not liable for the damage done to my car.Is this the case?

Well, frankly I wouldn't have left my car on their lot. I would have brought someone with to drive the car back home after I rented the truck. Is there a sign somewhere that says something on the order of "Not Responsible for..."? That's usually the case. Sorry, contact your insurance if you have collision coverage. They are probably not responsible.

Basically if it got to a court, it would be your word against theirs as to whether or not they 'told you' to park behind the building. And unless you can point to a U-Haul truck with damage and missing white paint that matches the paint on your car, how could you prove it was one of their trucks? Even then, if you can prove it's one of their trucks, how could you prove they were driving it? It could have been a customer.

Unless there is a sign up stating that they are not responsible then I would say they are. Call an attorney...consults are free and see what they say.

absolutely- they owe you nothing. can you PROVE that they hit your car? No.. you can prove a white vehicle hit your car. they dont owe you anything without proof. It doesnt matter it was on their property either

Unless you can prove it was them, they are not responsible. Just because your car is hit while parked on my driveway doesn't mean I did it. Burden of proof is on you - work with them and ask for help.

I'd take them to small claims court.....The Sheriff will deliver the subpoena for free.........This should open their eyes and maybe do what is right!

It is no different than if you went to a concert and they told you to park in a certain area. The place that the concert is held is not responsible for the damage to your vehicle. U-haul is not responsible for the damage to your vehicle unless you can prove that it was a U-haul truck and one of their employees backed into your vehicle.

If you have collision coverage you can try that but you will have to pay your deductible.

Id say their insurance should have to cover it since it took place on theyre property. My cousin had his stereo stolen out of his car while sitting on a local mechanics property and the mechanics insurance paid for it. Im not sure if that would be considered the same thing since a stolen stereo is considered vandalism but it check into it. Good Luck

Look at your Uhaul contract. There should be some wording in it about care, custody and control of your vehicle should you leave it there. If it disclaims liability in the contract you may be out of luck, but you might check with your lawyer anyway. If nothing else maybe the lawyer can get them to pay for you deductible to get it fixed.

If you parked it where they told you to park it, than they are completely responsible!

did you get their speacial insurance they have?....if you did yeah its their fault.

If I go to your home and you tell me to park my car in your parking lot and then you or your spouce decide to enter the parking lot and ram your car in mine. You would be responsible for the damage because YOU told me to put it there. SO, guess what, it's their fault, if they don't listen, do like I do, damage something else of theres.
