Got my test on Monday, and i'm really Sh*tting myself. Is it really as scary as everyone makes out?

It is quite nerve-racking when you first set off!

I was thrown because there was no communication between the examiner and myself, just 'take the next turning on the right'

So you need to be prepared for that, it's a lot different from a lesson.

I took a bottle of water with me and had a little drink before manoeuvres etc. but don't drink too much as the last thing you want is to be bursting for a wee!

Main thing is try to RELAX!!

Don't be silly, you know you can do it, you've been taking lessons, you have been doing it right. Some stranger sitting beside you doesn't change that. Relax and say I'm going to do it, I've already passed. I won't say good luck, because you don't need it, YOU CAN do it.

its not scary hun.
if you can drive, then just chill out and go for a drive. the dude that sits beside you is not there to fail you, he is there to pass you. he isn't some monster, just a geezer who is at work trying to check that you are safe on the roads. if you drive as you know you can, he will be more than pleased to give you your pass certificate.
good luck. chill out and go and get your licence on monday.
piece of cake

Yes, and if you make a mistake your instructor will scream on you and maybe call you names lol..

Nah Jokes lol

Its easy just drive as you drive alone and take your time.. Dont drive over the speed limit and not too slow... and i hope you made your test not during school start or ending time ;) have fun

It is, when you're there on the day and about to do it.

However, as someone who had to sit it 3 times, I wish I could convey to you how not scary it really is. From my side, as someone who had to do it 3 times, it really isn't worth all the stress. I know it's easy for me to say, but really don't worry because it isn't worth getting messed up over. It isn't that bad.

Good luck though!!!

Worse & i mean.Real worse. With the tester sitting there glum faced his eyes
watching everything that you do down to the number of blinks your eyes make.Hope this helped.

It can be scary until you actually meet the examiner, then you will find that you feel a lot better. Its all in the mind.
The examiner will try his/her best to help you to relax as its to their advantage for you to do your best so that you pass. Every examiner hopes their candidates will pass as there is far less work for him to do and he can enjoy the experience as much as you.
Believe me I was an examiner for 30 years.

It is all in the mind! Your instructor will have undoubtedly taken you over the various test routes before hand. The test is really pretty much the same, you just dont know the guy in the left street. One tester once told me that nerves were probably the biggest single direct cause of failure. They are not out to trick you, they do not have a quota of pass/fail tests. They have a guideline of what is an acceptable standard. If you reach it you pass, if you dont you dont.

Let us know how you got on and if it was as scary a you thought it would be. I'm interested because i've got mine soon.
I'm 36 and i think that has given me a different attitude to it, i think you know it's just a driving test, it's no big deal, i've managed this long without being able to drive, so it's not the end of the world if i fail first time.
Relax and enjoy it. Good luck.

No. Don't worry - be happy. And don't make a fuzz out of it. My sister in law had three tests until her driving teacher told her to get into the car and asked if it was okay if she would drive one of his friends home. She did, and within the hour she had passed her test: the man on the back seat was the driving test official.
Good luck on Monday!

In my driving test the examiner turned out to be an alien and he tried to eat my brain.

Actually...that didn't happen....but if it did it would have been less scary than the actual test was.

Sorry....it's meant to be scary and nerve-wracking.

Just get through it.
