Color shouldn't have any thing to do with it,,, it is the kind of car and the size of the motor,,,sports cars, are always high.

Definitely not. Engine capacity determines insurance, anything else that adjusts the price is to do with the driver eg. age, address etc.

No. Urban myth - in reality most sportscars are red and most people who drive those cars drive recklessly resulting in higher insurance.

No. I think people confuse that with data/statistics about accidents that say that most cars in accident are red, but car color does not have anything to do with insurance rates. If it did, they wouldn't even sell red cars anymore.

I am an insurance broker. I do quotes on a regular basis. COLOUR IS NOT ONE OF THE QUESTIONS ASKED! It matters for the actual registration, but does not affect the amount of money you have to pay. I have had this question pop up many times before, and have had people look me in the eye and tell me that red cars cost more to insure. It is a REALLY OLD MYTH! Where did it start? Probably with sports cars. Insurance on them is higher, and many of them are red.

The correct answer is yes because red paint is much more expensive than other colors and therefore insurance companies charge higher premiums. It's the same principle for certain makes of cars because of their high cost of replacement parts you pay much higher premiums.

Some red cars are targeted by theives andtheir insurance would be higher and also stand out more than other colors so maybe so

According to my research, a red car does not have higher insurance rates. I just bought a red SUV and my carrier doesn't know what color it is - over the phone, they just transferred coverage from one car to another.
