The insurance on a rental car is always optional. Even though the agent will always try to make you take it.
If you have car insurance already you don't need it. If you are renting it with a Major Credit Card, Your CC company most times will cover any deductible, should you have an accident.
Best to check the rules for your particular CC. Mine covers it, Only if I waive their optional insurance. |

In most states, all cars on the road are required to have insurance one way or another. Some insurance policies cover you while you are in a rental car, and some credit cards provide insurance. If you don't have your own, you must buy the one the car company provides (sometimes they provide more than the state minimum, so you can tell them you only want the minimum required by law). |

yes it is opional but i would totally say yes! you never know what will happen and its all ways good to be on the safe side you know. i mean some one else could hit you then blame it on you and that would be horrible!~!~!~! hope you get your answer!! :) |

I rented a car a few weeks ago and we waived the insurance, but we had to have proof that we had car insurance. You'd be crazy not to get the insurance if you don't have any. Think about it.... you total the rental company's car...you're gonna have to pay for it. Can you afford it? |

yes in all states insurance is required and if you get in an accident without insurance you could be held liable for the value of the car plus many more $$$ |

Not if the rental car says you don't have to. But if you don't have any, and you don't want to buy it, they don't have to rent to you. And they won't. |
