Is insurance still valid if i sell the car, but want to keep the insurance to drive cars not belonging to me?

I have fully comp insurance which enables me to drive any other car not belonging to me (as long as they are insured). My question is if i sell my insured car, and keep the policy running am i permitted still to drive any other car not belonging to me, as i no longer own the car which my policy is on. Please help?

No you cannot keep it going on the old cars details because if your old car has been insured by the new owner you would be committing an offence as it is illegal to have 2 separate policy's on 1 car,so really you need to transfer the policy to another car.
If the car was scrapped then that would be OK as its not going to have another policy taken out on it.

no you must inform the insurance company of the reg. of the car you are driving fully comp. only means fully insured for the car that is your car.

That won't work, I'm afraid. In the UK the insurance relates to your use of a particular car, so it will no longer apply.

Can I just point out, by the way, if you read your policy documents you'll find that it would only have covered you to drive another vehicle not owned by you for third party risks only and, almost certainly, "in an emergency only" as well.

You have to have a car to keep car insurance running.

No you can't,you insure the car,also even though you have fully comp insurance,if you drive someone else's car you are only covered third party,thats why I never let anyone else drive my car even if they are insured on their own.

If they cause a crash,my car wouldn't be covered for damage.

If your car that you have sold it the main car on the policy, then you are only insured if the car is in your name, so the insurance will have to change.

Yes you can drive the other car but you know how much insurance companies like to not pay out....and you might give them a good reason by simply not informing them
