evidently they have reason to believe you are claiming a lower than realistic mileage. yes, they can request proof, and raise your rates if you were less than honest. ask the shop you go to for records.

Then you pay the increased premium for 12,000 miles a year. I've never been asked, but it certainly is with the rights of the insurance company to ask for proof of mileage. Insurance companies aren't stupid.

you are paying rates based on you only driving 1/4 the miles average driver. If they are giving you a discount for this, it is their right to request proof that this is the case.

Nobody says you have to maintain your car. They can not make you but in most states you have "State Inspections" Does yours? If so, you get a copy of the results (By Law) given to you by the Inspection Station. On this record or receipt will be the accurate mileage. Of course If you do use your car for work like 99% of the people and then lie on your Insurance form, your going to get caught sooner or later. And with Geico!! The worst when It comes to this detective stuff.They like that. I think the agent gets a bonus if they catch you. Try and call them, they will except the Inspection receipt, I'm sure. If you "Lost Yours" go to the Inspection Station and ask for a copy. I know that here In New York State, The Station has copies available on the System they used to inspect the car. Good Luck and in answer to your original question: They have every right to ask you to produce It because your insured by them. If you can not "FIND" them, go do what I suggested.
