No, you're fine. If it's in date it's legal. Just bin the old one. |

The tax disc is in force and a legal 'document' from the moment you purchase it. Yes, you can display it in your windscreen before the old one runs out.
Think about it - why do you think you can purchase a new tax disc for up to two weeks BEFORE the old one runs out??
For the alarming number of people who don't know the law, please check out the link to the D.V.L.A. below (in case any of you are still unsure, they are the Government body who keep the records of all the registered vehicles in Britain). |

Take the old one out, put the new one in, simple really |

Twisted_Ace is quite correct. Your new disc is valid from the moment DVLA issue it. There's nothing to stop you continuing to display the old one until it expires, if you wish, but it'd be sensible to replace it now while you think about it! |

You may display the new one up to 2 weeks before it is valid. |

Nope.
There will be records as to you purchasing a previous tax disc.
It is only illegal to display an expired disc.
Check DVLA for details |

Yes because the new disc is not yet in force, you would be failing to display a valid tax disc. There is no law against showing both though. I would advise you simply keep the new one in the car until it is valid. |

just swap them over your new one will cover you from the date of purchase.
What is illegal is to display the tax disc upside down or in the drivers side of the windscreen.......... |
|

|
as long as it hasn't expired then you can display it! |

You must display the old one until it expires. This is in many ways illogical because if the police stop you they have the ability to check if you are insured and taxed whilst they are taking details |

You should only display the correct disc on the car.
However the disc only shows the expiry date and not valid from and valid to date.
To be on the safe side display the correct tax disc on your car. |

Yes, it's not valid until the other one expires |
|

Aces'n'eights
 |
Yes it is, you must display the old one until it has expired as your new one isn't valid until it has. |
