LOL... They are doing nothing "illegal". That $700.00 actually sounds quite cheap for an 18 year old single (male?) since you are in the group with the highest risk for an insurance company. Insurance is one of the best examples of socialism that there is. No one is an individual, everyone is grouped together and are only part of a larger group. Welcome to socialism 101.

No, actually it doesn't sound right, unless you are in a rural location. If so then it would be about right. For a more urban setting is sounds a little low considering your age.

if that's all and you're going on your parents policy then you have nothing to complain about.and check if that's for six months or for the whole year.700 for the year is a bargain.But if it's only for six months.you'll pay 1400 for the year and that would sound about right for your age.They hit younger drivers hard because of your inexperience and a high number of crashes for your age group.

yes, insurance will fluctuate because of several things.
age, the yunger you are the higher the rates will be. how far you
drive to work/school, the insurance company can calculate the miles you drive and reevaluate your policy. were you live, more populated areas can mean higher rates

Is that $700 per month or for 6 months?

I'm 18, male, with a Lexus IS250 and cheapest deal I found was $264 per month, and thats basic coverage.

By the way its not illegal the price discrimination effects every young male in america. Its based on statistics that young males get into more accidents.

Welcome to the real world. Yes, it is perfectly legal and why would the government make it legal anyway. The government taxes you higher for being single with know dependants why would they stop the insurance companies. Get married and buy a house your insurance will go down, but you will have a lot of other things to worry about paying for. Shop around for the best premium buy it pay it and enjoy being young, i would gladly pay higher insurance rates to be eighteeen again.
