Today my fiance got pulled over for going 46 MPH in a 30 MPH zone (he thought that it was still a 45 MPH zone) and when the police officer looked him up on the computer he said that his license had been suspended in February for an unpaid toll fine that he never even knew about. Now here's my question, I don't want my fiance driving now that he knows that his license is suspended because I don't want him to get arrested for driving with a suspended license. Instead, I want to drive him and I to work and college until we can get the issue resolved. The problem is that although I have a valid Florida driver's license, I am not covered on his car insurance. What is the penalty for driving a car that you are knowingly not insured on in the state of Florida? Is it a fine? Or jailtime? Also I'd love if you'd give a link to wherever you got your information from because I'd just like to double check for myself just to be sure. Thanks!

That link might help, but ultimately I am 99.9% sure you can drive his car if you are not on his policy. Most policys cover other drivers to a certain extent. If my friend drove my car and got into an accident I would be covered because I have full coverage and my friend is not the main driver of my car. Either way it is not illegal if you have a drivers licence (valid). Tell your fiance to call his insurance company and tell them the situation and have him ask if there is anything he needs to change because you occasionaly drive him places temporarily. |
