My parents live in two different states and so I have both licenses. A sales clerk told me that it was illegal but I don't see why it is. Neither of them or fake.

Your license MUST belong to the state in which you live most of the time (your official state of residence.) The other is invalid, and you can be busted if you present it to the police. |

You can only have a license in the state where you are a resident. And you can't be a resident of two states. Where do you pay state taxes? That is your state of residence.
(With the exception of Florida, which does issue a license to tourists that winter there, which is good only in Florida.) |

you could be pulled over in one of those states, and show them the ID for the other, so you wouldnt get points on you license (unless its one of the few reciprocal states)...I've moved around a lot and every new state always wants to invalidate the old license. Sometimes they just punch a hole in it. |

Well it is.... Cuz folks think that CDL holders will become baby killers if they are allowed to hold more than 1 license.
The same rule applies to you as well, due to current rulings made by the Fed DOT. Although states are supposed to share information, many still don't. |

You are illegal, one cancels out the other. You have to declare residency in one state, if you are carrying two licenses, with identity theft being the way it is, you are a fool to be using those. The one that was issued the latest is the valid license, the other is not valid, period. Your insurance can become an issue, as well. You better check your policy and see what license is correct, your insurance may be invalid if you have the older license number, as your license number. See what kinds of bad things that could happen? Medical insurance, loans, grants, any number of things could be invalidated, due to you using two licenses. Fraud comes to mind................. |
