I have a crap car too and I think about that same thing at least every other day haha. |

Actually, it would be considered negligence and the insurance could refuse to pay. |

Probably won't pay you because you left it open to theft. Plus could risk fraud charges... |

It's not illegal to leave your keys in your car. But I'd be real careful about telling anyone that's why you're doing it. Especially the insurance adjustor. |

Yeah if you get caught you would be caught for fraud, and probably would serve some Jail time. Make it seem less obvious and don't lock your doors having your keys incase the insurance company investigates. |

only if you get caught. or they prove that was your intent |

If they don't know you did it on purpose its perfectly "legal" |

heck no. Not illegal at all, I did that once and then insurance wouldn't cover it! the keys were in the glove box. I said I didn't know how they got the keys as they weren't in the car (the car was recovered with the keys, but it was totaled)... the insurance company said the doors needed to be locked for them to cover it.. I said they were and they said, no sign of forced entry... I did get some money but they were so onto me.... didn't work out as good as I had hoped |

Don't tell your insurance company you left the keys in it. |
|

sParKy

Yes they would question why the keys were in the car and you would still have to pay the excess?!! |
|

angelalee76

Your insurance company will not pay it off if you leave your keys in it like a dumba**.. they would consider that your own fault.. |

yes its like when some1 cant sell their house sometimes they will burn it down or damage it to get the insurance it is illegal and the cops normally catch them if i was u i wouldnt... |

What do you think.Especially now that the world knows. |

No, one would call it stupid......but I was discussing it recently with some friends. Lots of people invite their vehicle being stolen, but there is nothing illegal in being "stupid".
Its still breaking and entering if someone comes into your home and steals from you when the door was left unlocked.
So go ahead and keep leaving your keys in the car and the door unlocked.....if it gets stolen, oh well. If it doesn't....well just park it in the right neighborhood. |
