is it necessary to by a parked car insurance? the car is in my garage not on the public parking on the street. since i am in california and my car in fla. this is my first time i ever heard of parked car insurance. is it really necessary, do i really need it? i wanna know your opinion. thank you.

If it is registered you are required by law to have insurance on it. If it is not registered it is your decision. |

They will sell you insurance for anything these days won't they?Unless it is a valuable or a collectible car and/or is in a dangerous location I don't think I'd be concerned enough to pay the extra cash. |

Yes.
If you would, in any other situation, put full coverage on it, knock it down to 'parked car insurance'. That basically means that the comprehensive & collision is there so your vehicle is covered in case of acts of God, fire, theft, vandalism, etc. Keep in mind, however, that most insurance companies will require you to drain all fluids and put it up on cinder blocks.. are you prepared to have that done? |

I don't know Florida laws but if they are like Cali if the car is registered in your name you will have to have insurance on the car,even if it is parked in a garage, otherwise the DMV will suspend your registration. However you can get a Non-op on the vehicle which means the car will not be driven on the road and then you wont have to insure it until you are ready to drive it again. |

Is the car worth insuring? If so, make sure what is covered. I lived in Florida and the County I lived in (Marion) required all (even garaged vehicle) to have current plates and insurance. |

No you don't, but if the car gets damaged while parked then you will have to fix it yourself |

Depends on how much you love the car. If its in florida, its proned to afew things; fires, wind damage, flood damage, hurricanes, and theft...Does the insurance policy cover all of these? If so you may want to get it if its not too expensive, because these are almost all natural disasters. The house its in, does it have homeowners insurance? Look closely and see if THAT insurance policy will cover it, if so its not needed. If not, you may want to get it if its a car you value. Good luck and hope that helps a little bit. |
