Is it possible to look up someones car registration number to find out their details.?

I was in a minor bingle in a car park today. It was my fault and so gave my details, but the other car owner was reluctant to give me her details as so I am a bit suspicious. She said it was a company car and didn't like giving me her name, didn't show me a license and didn't like me taking a photo of the spot where my bumper marked her car (which by the way, virtually ripped my bumper off). So is there a way of finding out if she was even licensed or was meant to be driving the company car?

If you have her registration plate recorded then you should go to the police - they can do all the necessary checks. The car may even be stolen, registered with fake plates or as you say, unlicensed.

you should report the accident to the police even if it is your fault.
give them the details that she gave you, she may not have a licence and was driving some one elses car, if it was a company car you need the name of the insurance company for your insurer any way
dont pay money over to her with out investigating whose car it is
if she didnt give details she is hiding something
i live in Australia also, i would have insisted all details of the person whether it is your fault or not

Well, with the other driver being uncooperative in giving details, you probably should have called the police right then and there. But all is not lost.

Contact your insurance, and give them the details you have. I'm assuming you also have the tag number off the car? Insurance can probably get the needed information to make a claim.

The proper authorities are the only people who can (legally) get that information. Wouldn't it make more sense to simply give the information to your insurance company and let them find the info, since they have the ability to do that ?

You messed up. You should have written down her license plate and her name or any other info.

How can you put in a claim now if you have no information? Maybe your lucky, since it was your fault. Now you will avoid having an accident on your record.

well here you have to be a cop to look up info...and here you are to call cops when you have a car wreak so you can turn it into the insurance..
