Is it too late to go to the police?

ok so my car was hit in the school parking lot in november by a guy that i know.At the time he said he would pay for it but now that ive gotten an estimate and its like $600 he says he wont pay for it.i never went to the cops because i knew the guy but is it too late to go to them now?

It depends on the state you live in (it would really help if you had any witnesses so it's not your word versus his)

Are you insured? You can always call the police and they will be happy to answer the question, otherwise you'll have to most likely take him to small claims court.

If you have collision coverage on your auto insurance then let your insurance company fix your car.

If you don't you will have to sue this guy in small claims court.

You can go to the cops anytime you would like to get their advice. You will most likely have to go through small claims court in order to get anything out of this.

There is little the police can do at this point. Since the other party refuses to accept his responsibility, you can file small claims. In the alternative, you can take his plate info and have the police provide you with his insurance details. Call the insurance company and file a claim. They will complete an investigation and notify you.

you can go to the cops any time . but also you should report that to your insurance company . i wish you had witness or so photos it will help.
