In most states you have to have the insurance before you buy the car. |

What happens when you get in an accident in that 30 days? Who is going to pay? What if you seriously injure somebody else?
No, You have to have insurance before you drive it. |

Many dealerships will include the cost of 30 days worth of insurance in the price of the car, so that you can start driving it right away when you buy it. But don't count on this unless they specifically told you that it is included. |

I'm not sure how it is in your state but in NY, it is mandatory to have proof of insurance upon registration at the Dept of Motor Vehicles. You should call your city's DMV to find out what the law is for your state. |

No. You don't drive your car an inch without insurance. What, accidents don't happen in the first 30 days, or are forgiven if they do? You need insurance to drive a car. Period. |

No. In almost every state insurance is required before you register a car. |

Pretty sure that's not true...
And would you really want to risk it if it was?
If you are uninsured and get in a wreck, you lose your license for one year, automatically. |

No. When purchasing a car, you get the VIN and contact an insurance agent, placing insurance on the vehicle immediately. If you own other vehicles, and carry full coverage, some but not all insurance companies have binders that provide coverage for a limited amount of time, say 3-30 days. However, you must read you policy to know if you have coverage. If you purchase a motorcycle, few companies have binders for bikes, and many companies won't insure motorcycles at all, so it's best to check your policy, before driving that new purchase, whether from a dealer or private sale. |

except you bought the car from an individual, a Car dealer will never let you leave his/her lot with a car with putting full coverage insurance on it.
Even If you bought the car from an individual, as long as you're driving it around, you are required to have insurance coverage if you're driving on a public road....except in some southern states that I know of.........you're not required to have insurance or even have the seat belts on....crazy uhh. But most states do require that your car is insured. It all depends on your states laws. |

You need to show proof of insurance before you're allowed to buy a car. It's illegal to drive a car without insurance. |

yes and no. It depends on the car you're driving. If it's your parents and it is insured, then they have 30 days to add you to the existing policy for the coverage to extend to you on THAT vehicle.
Insurance follows the vehicle, not the driver. If you buy a new car it needs to be insured immediately. There was no existing coverage under your ownership on that vehicle and you would need to purchase some to have any coverage for it. |

No that is not true. You have to have insurance coverage to title a vehicle or get plates period!! no exceptions in any state. If you currently have a vehicle your trading in to a dealer that is "full coverage" then you are automatically covered on the new purchase until you can switch it with your insurance company. Technically in Michigan you do have 30 days to switch it, however I wouldnt chance it, just transfer it asap. |
