It depends on your age,
If you pay alot for your insurance then no,
But if your insurance is cheap then yes its worth it. (Just incase you get hit by a uninsured driver)
But remember you will also have the excess to pay, If your car is a right off.
So compare the insurance cost and the excess if you need to make a claim, If this is alot less then your insurance premium then get fully comp, If its about the same or higher then get TPFT. |

If you can afford to buy another one if it is written off, then no. |

No need to get full comp ins. on a cheap car. |

My car is 18 years old and not worth very much at all. However, I do have fully comp insurance as it gives a load of other benefits, most important of which is it means I'm insured to drive any other car. |

I never get fully comp insurance and never had an accident in 35 years of driving.
I know they say "there's always a first time" but I usually laugh to that.
Indeed, by buying third party only I have now saved enough money to buy myself a brand new Porsche. But I am buying a flat by the seaside instead :)
yeah, there's always a first time for everything.
KJA, over 35 years that works out 17 grand. |

then u can have liability only |

definitely not.if you can afford to replace it easily, but ,bear in mind,if you have an accident the insurance co., will not usually act for you. |

Like most things in life you get what you pay for but only pay for what you can afford. |

There might be. The cheapest cover is road legal, but a more expensive package may include some other benefits you want, like continental cover including recovery |

depends if it only cost a little bit more and your excess stays the same then yes as you then get some back should you make a claim.
Mine went up by £200 on a car worth £600 when i made a claim i paid £250 excess but then got £400 back and they dealt with removing the car from the crash scene and scrapping it where as i would have had to get the car home then pay to have it scrapped |

The reality is you are not putting Comprehensive and Collision on your car. You are insuring your transportation. So if you can afford to replace the vehicle you are in essence insuring yourself when you opt out of that type of insurance.
A bit of math will show you whether or not it is worth it. If the Comprehensive and/or Collision cost twice as much a year as the car is worth then you really are throwing your money away. Run a few numbers and things will start to clear up very quickly. |

Thats a difficult one, for a long time most people have just got third-party if their car is not worth very much, you could find yourself paying more for the insurance than the cars worth you hear of that loads. I'd have a look around first to see the cheapest you can find comprehensive, if its not bank breaking then its always going to be best to get comprehensive. If yuo can just buy another car then maybe thats not worth it. Have a nose on moneysupermarket or somewhere :) worth checking out all your options before you make a descision :) |

You have to do some math.
Suppose your car is wortth only $ 1000.00, but if carrying comp costs only % 60.00 a year, then,. yes. Spend $ 60.00 to protect $ 1000.00?? I'd do it. |

How cheap is your version of cheap should influence decision. If you think you'll have an extra 2500 bucks around for car replacement money then I would say no.However as you damn well know money has a way of evaporating right at the time when you'll really need it,Get the insurance if you can afford it at all.Raise up the deductable perhaps to 1000 instead of 500 typically will save you $$ on premium statement. |
