when i first passed my test i sent off for full licence,when it didnt arrive after 2 weeks i sent of for another,then 2 came at once,so i keep one as a spare,then i got banned from driving for 6 months and had to send one of my licences off,when it came round to my bann being over i was supposed to send off for my licence to come back to me and pay a fee for doing so...so what i did was instead of sending off for my licence i juat used my spare one,the dvla dont know that i have got a "spare" one though,so is my licence and insurance now void?? please help as i must get it sorted asap if it is illegal!! I LIVE IN THE UK

You should have destroyed or returned one of your licences to DVLA when you first ended up with two of them. That would have been a condition of the replacement being issued. If it's an old-style paper licence the replacement (valid) one should have the word "duplicate" somewhere on it.
Currently, you are driving without a valid licence. That also means that you are uninsured as any policy you have is automatically invalidated.
You had best contact DVLA immediately to resolve the situation and pay any fees you owe. As far as they are concerned your licence remains suspended until you apply for a new one which will have details of your motoring offences. You'll find that it's far better to confess than to be caught. You'll also need to stop driving until you've got your new licence and you must inform your insurance company; if you're stopped by police they will report you and you'll probably end up banned and fined again. |
