Just one of the many perils of online insurance policies I'm afraid. Sadly, everyone thinks they're an expert on car insurance and it's only when the sh*t hits the fan (such as like this) that they realise straying into an area they are not experienced in can be dangerous.
Non-disclosure of material facts and "assumptions" made by websites (which aren't checked by customers) are the most common cause of misquotes. It's usually only when a claim is submitted these problems arise.
Get your car back from their garage (to avoid any storage charges), get a BROKER to quote you for a proper insurance that adequately reflects your requirements and learn from this (rather expensive) lesson! |

You should always declare any modifcations on your insurance, even if it doesnt ask. |

Read the policy more clearly next time!!
For now, you have to pay the repair costs and get new insurance.. |

This has made me smile for the rest of the day. Barry 0 Insurance Company 1
I think you're not telling all the truth here, I shop around for my insurance, and every online application asks the 'Has your car been modified?' question.
The insurers need to know this as they need to know that you're a higher risk category (higher speeds mean higher damage, plus more parts to replace in the event of an accident -- I bet those Heinz bean cans on the back of your exhaust costs a bomb). |

Harsh? A bit
Within the law? Yes
Lesson to be learned here. |

THIS WHAT YOU GET FOR BUYING ON LINE, TOO MUCH IN A HURRY AND NOT READING EVERYTHING, FINE PRICE WILL ALWAYS GET YOU.
BUY FROM A LOCAL IN TOWN COMPANY AND READ EVERYTHING, UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE. |

They are not being harsh.
I thought it was common knowledge that any mods need to be reported. it says it in all the T&C's i've read.
You are entitled to your car back, unrepaired. If they have repaired it then you will have to settle the garage bill to get it back, just like any garage repair. If you refuse to pay, they are allowed to sell the care to recover the bill costs. |

Whenever I've asked for an online quote, there has always been a question about whether the car has been modified. I have used many insurers to shop around.
Go back to the website where you bought your insurance and pretend you're getting a new quote - look carefully for that question; if it really isn't there then I would take it up with the company involved. |

afraid im with barryboy on this one there is always a question about any modifications, and it is always clear.
tough lesson but youll never miss it again. |

you should really learn to read and car insurance companies wont ensure anyone that modifys even superficial stuff on cars as its usually boy racers that do that sort of stuff and they are a risk. i fear they were right in your case. |

you should read all the policy documents even the small print, |

If there is no place to put it on the form, either finish the form and ring them straight away or ring them first for advice. You witheld information about your car so sadly they are not being harsh.
Harsh is the fact that my boyfriend paid an excess on a repair that is supposed to be covered for free on the policy!!! |

You are ******, you should have known any mods to a car will always affect the policy if not stated. But you can get your car back, if they have repaired it you should pay up. |

They can cancel your policy - but you can get your vehicle back. So go to the body shop and pick up your vehicle. they didn't take posession of it - unless you signed it over to them, and if they did do that they have to pay you for it. |

I have a phrase I tell my customers.
Only a fool or an expert buys insurance online . . . |

You have nothing to do about it because damage was already there, all you have to do is pay for the expenses for the repair of your car and then try to find another car insurance that can definitely provide your needs, but make sure again about the policies of that insurance provider , what happened right now is a lesson for you. Choose a car insurance that provide less premium, try to search it on the net, you can try to visit this site http://www.nightbirdssolutions.com collect quotes and choose among them the better one. |

this is how the work they will do anything to get out of paying u should have told them about the mods most of the time they dont increase the premium the car is your u can take it at any time but will now find it hard to get ins as they are all linked and pass your info on sorry to say the only way is to tell them you know nothing about cars and u didnt know it was moded then you can fight them as u are ignorant to whats under a bonnet worth a try |

Fight it. Just like a vehicle warranty, they arent supposed to be able to refuse a claim just because you modified a completely unrelated part. |

Yes they are being harsh. The modification on your car has nothing to do with the bump on it. |
