Probably. An insurance company dictates its own internal policy on how high "risk" of a driver they want to insure. Basically, one company may still be willing to insure you with convictions in the last five years, whereas others may only want "good" drivers and their policy may be to only write policies to drivers with clean (or cleaner) histories. |

no not these days most ask for disclosure for 5 yrs now.and it does depend also on what convictions they are.if its sp30 s 40 s or 70 s its not that bad but if its dd you will get clobbered. |

They may well ask the question about convictions going back 5 years but they may well be "spent" as far as the insurance co. are concerned. It is best to answer the question and see what the result is. I assume you are well aware that Insurance co. exchange details with each other ? so please do not try to forget about anything otherwise you commit a criminal offence and your insurance would be null and void! |

I think Geico asks for the last 3 years instead of five if I remember correctly, but if it's on your file and they want to know about it they will find out if it had to do with a driving conviction. They stay on your record for 7 years. |

All of the companies that I represent only ask back 3 except for 1. Safeco asks back 5 years. Progressive only asks back 35 months. |

Unless it was a felony conviction or dwi farmers ins goes back only 3 yrs. I am an agent for em.there is also other carriers that only go back 3yrs. |
