i hit a deer last year and got ripped off cause the insurance co. sent the check to the lowest bidder he did crappy work i want to change insurance co.

Well, if there's a loan on your car, the check will get sent to you, and the lender. If there's no loan, the check can get sent to YOU.
But when the insurance company "recommends" a place, you can keep bringing your car back until it's done right. Although it's a pitb to be going 3 -4 weeks with no car, and then doing it again . . . and again . . |

Your insurance probably won't send you the money, they expect you to get the car repaired.
Don't get any estimates from places that you know do
cheap work, go to dealership shops and just get two estimates.
Any shop should guarantee their work, go file a claim with the Better Business Bureau, also call the insurance company as they should help you if your repairs are crappy.
Post some photos of the crappy work.

We had USAA insurance and they sent us the check for the damage after our car got broken into. Although this might not help you cause USAA is military insurance. |

Most of them should if you ask for it to be sent to you. They don't like doing that though so they won't bring it up if you don't. |
