Is this too Much for car Insurance?

currently I'm paying $1,360 for my car insurance every 6 months and that is after deductions from doing good, it's a 96' camry 4 door sedan, basically I bought it for like $1,800 it has around 175,000 Miles and I went to driving school, I recently was employed so I was driving around 25 Miles a day total, I have A's and B's for grades (High-school), I'm going to college, I'm 18yrs old with a clean record and I have had my license for about 10 Months now.

By going to a site like this, you can get several quotes. I am sure you can find cheaper rates than 1360 every six months. (You are buying your car again every 9 months or so.) There's no point to suffering like this.

Car insurance rates vary widely around the country. Get a breakdown of the costs for Liability, Comprehensive, and collision. You can probably drop the collision insurance coverage. That is the part that pays for YOUR car if YOU wreck it. Most of the time once a car is 8 or 9 yrs old the Collision is not worth buying. Next is your comprehensive. It is not required either and it pays if your car is stolen, you hit a deer on the highway, damage from a hail storm etc... It is not worth buying either. You might be paying 1000 a year for comp/collision on an 1800 car! Not worth it.

Do not lower your liability insurance under 300,000. What if you hit a Bentley full of children? You need alot of liability insurance, but you can Self-Insure if your car is damaged/destroyed.

Also, after you talk to your insurance man, go find an Independant agent that can sell lots of different companies. Not the AllState/State Farm/ American Family guy etc... You should be able to get alot better price with some effort getting a few insurance quotes.

No one here can tell you if you are paying too much (or too little). There are way too many variables. The ONLY way to tell is for you to call around and get a few quotes

Wow, you're so getting ripped off, even as a new driver (thats $2600 a year!!!! on a 13 year old car!!!).

When i was 16, I didn't pay that much for a car, and I had my own insurance policy (I wasn't put on my parents policy). i was only paying $1200 a year, on a 4 year old car with less than 30,000 miles on it.
