Ive got 8 points on a provisional uk what does this mean ?

Firstly it means that when you get your full licence you cannot get any points what so ever as you will lose it immediatly because the limite is 12points. Also your insurance premium will be extremily high, this may sound alot but you need to make suure you drive sensibly and steadily for 5years till your points are removed from your licence.

It means you aren't going to be able to afford your next insurance premium.

It means you will be lucky if your actually pass your test. If I was the examiner I would fail you before you even turn the key in the door,
Another four points and like the Numpty you are you will be off the road, one less MORON to cause an fatal accident.

First of all I do not think you are allowed to take your test at present and will have to wait until at least 3 points are removed from your licence. If you do pass your test eventually you will be really penalised with the insurance and have a very hefty premium to pay. I know this is judgemental but it sounds as if you are not near ready to be on the road. I don't know what these 8 points are for and if you realise you were driving to the best of your ability then it seems you have a long way to go before being a competent driver. If these points were for example speeding that you were doing to show of to your mates or whatever and you could have avoided then your immaturity also shows you shouldn't be driving. If it was the latter then only you can change the way you drive and until that time you are not safe to be on the road.

It means that you are just one small step away from being banned from driving, probably for 12 months, before you even get your full licence. Assuming you pass your driving test before getting any more points, the 8 points will be transferred across to your full licence and you will still be one small step away from being banned. Basically what this means is, that if you want to carry on driving, for the next 3 to 4 years you are going to have to drive as if you were on your driving test EVERY time you go out in your car. Points are removed after 4 years and you will start from scratch again with a clean licence.

Unfortunately that is not all, if you already have your own car and insurance, you must declare the points you currently have to your insurance company. If you do not, and you have an accident, the Insurance company will NOT pay out as your insurance will be declared invalid. If you do not yet have your own car, as soon as you get one and want Insurance you MUST declare the points. As a new driver with 8 points already most good insurers will not insure you. Whoever does insure you will charge a VERY high premium. Again, if you do not declare the points and have an accident, the insurers will declare the policy invalid and not pay out. If you have been in an accident with an expensive car and it is deemed your fault you will have to pay for the repair of both cars which could cripple you financially for years. Sorry, but THAT is the reality of your present situation.

even if you behave yourself till you pass your test you might be able to insure a reliant robin

The reply goes much deeper than those already posted.

If you gain SIX points within two years of passing your test, your licence is automatically revoked. THIS INCLUDES POINTS GAINED PRIOR TO PASSING YOUR TEST WHICH ARE STILL VALID. Therefore, you are unable to take a driving test until at least 3 of the points you already have are expired.

You are at this moment, a disqualified driver.
