Just passed my driving test help?

Being a now a passed driver.

Your best or ideal car would be a small car that gives you as much vision as possible and ideally is a small car too.

The reasons for this are as follows:

Your a new driver, you will be constantly learning every day of your driving for the next few years, (I've not stopped and been driving for 12 years), it is statistically liekyl that you will have an accident in your first few years and with a small car repairs will be cheaper and damage will possibly be smaller.

Small cars also handle very well and you will get to learn the wdith and length of your car very quickly. Insurance for small cars is usually far less too, runing costs are less and economy are far greater.

Great small cars that I would recommend are: Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta & KA, Renault Clio and the Pugeot 106 or 107 and toyota IGO

My first is a vauxhall corsa 1.0 12v, what i learned was that the best thing to do was drive a older car that is reliable, its also cheaper. Fiat's are always breaking, as far as i am aware.

i would get a small car 1,ooocc etc until you get experience,also its cheaper to insure, most dealers will let you test drive

I passed my test in a corsa but then went on to drive the family car (2 litre SRI Vectra) which is probably not alot of use to you. Why not buy the same make/model as you've been learning in? That way at least the car will be familiar to you.

i wouldnt get a brand new one if i were you - most accidents happen for new drivers in their first year (except me, i havent had one yet lol been driving two years!) i had a peugeot 106 for my first car, its a good little run around....

a year later i bought a ka - so cheap to run and such a nice nippy little car.

I learnt in a Corsa and that was really nice to drive. I have a Fiat Punto now and it is a very easy car to drive and there quite cheap to buy.

First off - Congratulations!!

My first car was a Peugeot 106 which I drove for around 8months then brought a Fiat Punto.

I wouldn't advise the Punto, although they are nice cars to drive and good value for money they are not the most reliable of cars. Also, they tend to be quite expensive to fix when something goes wrong as most parts seem to be "Fiat Only"

The peugeot was a good little first car but I would probably suggest you look at Ford's, KA or Fiesta? Reliable cars and cheap parts if you do have any problems.

Ideally you want something reasonably small and with a small engine to keep your insurance premiums low. Don't buy anything that has a larger engine size than a 1.4 but ideally 1.0-1.2 as you'll be paying a bomb.

Also, when you go to buy your car I'd advise you take someone that knows a little about cars with you. The first car I brought I went on my own and turns out it was a death trap (cut and shut) lol.

Anyway, best of luck with your car search and don't rush into anything. Buy what you feel comfortable with, test drive it first and don't let the sales guys talk you into anything! =)

Get a mid size car and shop round you should be able to get a good car . Don't spent too much money unless you have money to throw away . The first car is always the bumper car you will hit allot of things with your first car . It happens to the best of us that why don't spent to much money on it . I go with a honda/chevy malibu a mid size car .

buy an English car so that spare parts and service will not be expensive in future. Any car you like, small and practical one, automatic, the prices are cheap now.
