Licence at dvla but have to produce?

I had this happen to me. This is my advice. Find the smallest police station possible and produce there. The police will try and tell you that you have to decide on the night of receiving the Hort 1 where you will produce your documents but they are lying. They want to make their job easier and so want you to take it to them so they have more time to sit on their ****. Next dont bother paying the Â£5 that the DVLA will offer you if you call them to send out an official copy of your licence signed by the head of the DVLA. The idiot they have working behind the screen at your local nick wont know what to do with it and will caution you anyways to cover his own back. This proceedure is not about justice, crime or prevention...its about power. If one of the fine officers of the law takes a disliking to you he can use this to waste your time and money. I went to the station three days before the Hort 1 was due to expire and was told that if I didnt have the licence I would be cautioned regardless of the reason or what other paperwork I had. The most amusing part of it all was that the pig had the audacity to say "dont worry about the caution this happens all the time"!! I though great, on a regular basis this idiot is wasting peoples time money and their clean police records just because they cannot be arsed to walk to the computer and do a search on your name. Its a disgrace. My final advice to you is that if they try and caution him tell them that its pathetic and say take me to court then. They wont follow it up as they no that its a waste because you do have a licence. If it happened to me again that is what I would do.

He should inform the police station where the hort/1 was issued from and they will either give him more time to produce or contact swansea to clarify the situation,Even though his licence is at DVLA he is still licenced to drive.

The police can check your licence situation in an instant.
However,the police can sometimes be awkward and petty when dealing with white,employed people,so be prepared for them to charge you.However,should this happen,it will be dropped on the morning of court before you go in.

goto the police station and get an extention... or they will nick him, regardless...

personally tell plod to cough up the money for your licence if they want to see your entitlement... its all on a computer these days...

i got nicked for a blowing exhaust... only my MOT ran out 3 days later... i told plod i had no insurance or MOT, and i wasnt going to commit a crime to satisfy their records... i made them wait 3 months...

Take the letter to the police as proof he doesn't have his licence with him. But take his insurance certificate and MOT is well.

Take the letter to the police station and ask, before the end of the producer date!

Just tell them that DVLA have it, they can check.

Go to the Police and tell them...may still get reported for failing to produce his licence...but Police can check if he actually does have a licence and if it is full or provisional....doubt it would go to court if his licence and any other documents are in order...you may not be surprised to learn that the Police are told this all the time....so sometimes you can forgive them for being a little cynical.

Don't panic! It happened to me last year.

Go to the police station and explain that your licence is at the DVLA, along with the letter that they sent you.

They are, after all, human. And they will give you extra time to produce.

just tell police licence is at DVLA and they will extend date for producer
