my bf sis' license plates were stolen about a couple days ago. And We went to the DMV to get other ones but it turns out we have to go to San Bernardino to get them. So how can I drive the car (if I can even drive it) without getting pulled over. It's the only car we can take and I really need to take it. It's a big emergency so anyone know if I can drive it?
Additional Details
I have the registration and stuff. And Im driving over there to get another set of plates since I can't do it here. But I need to get from here to there. Please bear with me.

Who ever told you that you had to go to a specific DMV office is full of s**t. You can order replacement plates at ANY DMV office in the state. I'm glad to see you have a police report on the stolen plates. The person that took them will probably use them to commit a crime, and you don't want cops knocking on your door.
ASAP go to any DMV office in California and order a replacement set. There is going to be a modest fee for the new plates. I think it's $17, but I'm not sure. While you're there ask for a "Temporary Operating Permit. It's a red, 4 inch square paper you put in the rear window to allow you to drive the car until the new plates arrive. |

Wow! I'm surprised to hear that they wouldn't give you the plates at the DMV... I don't know if you have AAA, my moms plates were stolen too and we just went to the Triple A she only paid $18 dls and they gave her new plates. What you can do.... If you know a friend or somebody that works at a dealer ask them for the plastics or whatever they are called that they put instead of the plates. Change the one infront and back until you get your plates. |

Yes, of course you can drive without plates but you may be stopped because of it. Just make sure you have a copy of the police report and all other papers with you. but......Why in the world would they make you go to a specific DMV simply to replace stolen plates? Something has been left out in this story. |

go to ur dealership and see if theyll give you the papers that you put on the license plate spot when you get a new car. or spray paint a "license plate" on the car and avoid the cops. |
