I just moved to new york from san antonio and lost license and social security card, (I do not have a new york id) and you cannot get a new york id without a id and a social security card and you cannot get a social security card without no id. I dont know what to do to get a new york state id. I am going in circles with the dmv considering to throw myself on the subway track.......all i have is official original birth certificate and college transcripts with social security number on them and pay stubs and a copy of my student id. but it all supposedly isnt "enough" identification.for a passport or a id card in new york. what the hell can I do.

also the social security office says the birth ceritificate is not enough for the social security card . You must have a ID also to get the social security card.

In these times no body will give you a break. When It comes to your ID in most all States you would probably get the same Static from DMV & Social Security. I know the stress you must be feeling. I don't know If this is feasible or not but you might want to get yourself a duplicate Texas License/ID that alone is 4 points (NY & most States use a 6 point requirement) Your SS Card is 2 points. You still need points. Below is the NY State DMV Web site/ID requirements page. Your school Id is 2 points,I believe. Your allowed 1 of credit/debit card( You could have 5 or 6 but can only use 1) A bank statement with your name & Address is 1 point- Pay stub with name and address 1 point. I could go on but you might be better served by looking for yourself.Like I said before; better to get your texas drivers license/ID card. In your old home state with Picture ID already in place you won't need anything else but to appear.They will issue you a duplicate. Anything further I can do in the way of Information please just ask. I'll help If I can. But in the mean time go to the NY DMV Web site as listed below. Good luck. Jumping in front of a train won't help. And Its really,really messy, so I'm told. Your parents would be mortified anyway. Hang in there. This happens to many,many MANY people daily. your not unique.

You need to fill out form DL-43 and mail it back to Texas DPS. Once you get your license back from Texas, you can go to the Social Security office and request a new Social Security card.
