you are legally on your own and do not need her permission to do anything. you can buy a car on your own. but be sure to research it on the internet. many used cars are just cars that were used on leases that have to many miles but are still in great condition. |

I'm a senior in high school. I have a car, job,money and I pay all my bills. Why? Because I been working my *** off since I was 14. My mother never provided me with any help financially cause shes B and cheap!!! I guess it's kinda a good thing cause it makes me more independent. Go out and find a job and just keep saving. And you till reach your goal eventually Or you can try talking to your mom again. good luck |

besides the fact that you are 21 and should be able to do it yourself.... you clearly are under a lot of control by your mom. Show her that you are responsible and look into some cars. Get information on them. Yes, buying used cars does not guarentee you to have an awesome car forever. But you have to start somewhere.. right? Used cars are not going to last forever, but you dont want to buy a new car for your first car. Its just not always a good idea. Just look into some used cars and get information on them to show her that you are trying yourself. Not all used cars are bad, I have had mine for 4 years, and its a 89... so its old, but it still runs great. You just have to know what you are looking for. |

Are you still living at home? You do realize that at the age of 21 you are an adult and can make these legal decisions for yourself, enter into contracts, etc. That includes the purchase of a vehicle, registration and required insurance. If you still require your parents help, then unfortunately they make the rules.
Your independence from your parents comes at the cost of having to support yourself. |
