Hey there guys,

I am a disabled young man and I wish to enter a year of work to help build up some funds for uni. However as I will be working for my own money would that take away my right to have a nominated driver and car to use. I am uncertain of this as I want to work but If I lose the car I cant get anywhere. any ideas would be most appreciated.

You are entitled to a car on a Motability Scheme if you are receiving the higher level of disability allowance.

The amount you receive over and above the 'normal' disability allowance would be automatically surrendered and paid to Motability Ltd.

If you are not benefiting from the higher level of disability allowance whilst you are working (which is less likely for many people) then you would no longer be entitled to a car on the scheme.

However if you are still receiving the higher level of disability allowance whilst working you may still claim a car on the scheme.
