Hi, im 14 and starting to get interested in buying a car, i want a old muscle car type like a stingray Corvette, Mustang, or Camaro, something of the type, like models 60s to 80s, i asked my dad about insurance on something like that and he said it would be expensive because of the fiber glass bodies and other things, i just wanted to see if he was right or wrong. so if someone could tell me all about that, i would appreciate it thanks!!!

ANY auto insurance will be expensive for a new, young driver, and insurance for a classic or high-performance car might not even be available. Since many models of what you're looking for are now getting quite expensive, you'd have a very hard time getting coverage, probably until at least age 25. I know you'll hate to hear it, but you'd be wise to set your sights a bit lower for a while. Honda Civics are supposed to be very nice--and insurable! |

While you're looking for cars let me suggest some Under the Radar cars.
GTO was a performance package for a Tempest with a 389, GTO sets off an alarm but a Tempest is just an old car. The Buick Special and Olds F-85 were in the same boat
Before the Camaro the ChevyII SS (66-67) was a hot rod, light weight and a 327 up to 350 HP and pretty. The Chevelle and Malibu were heavier and the Impala was big.
The Mustang was NOT the forerunner the selective memory makes it be. In fact it was not even a '64, it was late, a '64 1/2 so the Falcon an Dodge Dart were out first. The Falcon had all the same parts available and the Dart had a 273 V8 with all the earmarks of the mustabg, short trunk,long hood.
Stay away forom corvettes they are fragile and getting brittle. |
