I was not feeling very well yesterday, so I just asked my BF to drive us back to his house. Anyway whilst he was driving we got pulled over by a police officer.
He did a check up and the details said I am uninsured but I am, I have fully comp insurance. However my BF got the producer, he has a full UK license and fully comp insurance on his own vehicle.
Is he insured to drive my car?

Im 22 and he is 28.
He is not a named driver. His insurance compay says he can only drive his car :-/

bit of a gray area..best bet is just to take all his doc in with the producer and hope for the best.... |

the way to tell if he is insured under his own policy is to look at his certificate of insurance.about half way down will be a heading saying something like persons entitled to drive. underneath that - there will be a 3-4line saying the policyholder may also drive another motorcar not owned by him etc. if it says that he is ok..failing that he will need to be a named driver on your policy. if neither applys - then he is looking at 6pts on his license. he has the producer as he was driving at the time as was therefore classed as being in charge of the vehicle. |

I hope you are insured for him to drive your car or he has fully comp which permits him to drive your car. If not He will be charged with driving without insurance and unless youi can say he drove without my permission will will be charged for letting him drive without insurance in which case another chharge will be added to his. This happened to friend of my wife. . |

It's good to know police are bad outside of the US too! I feel better now. SOrry about what happened though. They call traffic violations 'tickets' in the USA. They call them 'producers' there in the UK? |

If you Boyfriend is insured fully comp on his car, then he should be able to drive your car third party. As long as the car is not in his name.
All the same he should check the small print on his insurance. |

You should be on the national data base if you have insurance, or have you just got it recently. If he is a named driver for yor car then he is ok. |
